Capitol Reef National Park

While small, Capitol Reef National Park is still quite beautiful. We passed through on our way to Moab, and we were glad we did. We were there in the Fall, so the orchard trees were yellow and gorgeous as we passed through the valley. We also stumbled upon a horse farm which was rather charming. We did stop and hike the Grand Wash trail. It was pretty early morning and we were the only ones on it - which of course led us to look 24/7 for mountain lions, but it was nonetheless a wonderful, non-strenuous hike that takes you through open and narrow canyons. The rock walls are stunning, colorful and intimidating. If you have time, there is also an arch you can check out (Cassidy Arch) on the way.
